Newcastle United will be looking to end decades of waiting for a major trophy on Sunday as they face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.

Eddie Howe's team beat Arsenal over two legs in the semi-final to set up the clash against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon. Victory over the Merseyside club would see Newcastle win their first major trophy since 1955.

Newcastle go into the game on the back of a 1-0 win over West Ham in the Premier League on Monday night. Liverpool, meanwhile, were beaten by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday night in their last fixture.

The Carabao Cup has regularly been broadcast on Sky Sports this season, which is available to paying customers. This year, the final at Wembley Stadium will also be available to watch for free.

ITV will be broadcasting the match live from Wembley, with coverage starting on ITV1 at 3.30pm and will run until 7.15pm. This will be free for fans to watch, provided they have a TV license.

The match will also be available live stream via ITV's streaming service, ITVX. This will also be available for fans to watch for free, provided they have a ITVX account.

It's not the first time this season that ITV have broadcast action from the Carabao Cup. The channel broadcast the first leg of Newcastle's semi-final against Arsenal and the second leg between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

Howe was asked about the team selection decisions that he faces ahead of the Carabao Cup final.

"Genuinely, whenever I look at a team selection for any game, there's always decisions to make," Howe told reporters on Friday.

"That'll be no different for this game because you're always looking at the opposition and your own strengths and trying to figure out what players need to go up against certain players.

"So that's what we've done. We don't have a huge pool of players to select from - that's pretty obvious.

"We have a very tight squad and in some senses that can help you in different moments and that can also be a negative."
