The three pubs right next to Kings Cross that Newcastle fans will definitely want to go to

With just a few days until kick off at Wembley, tens of thousands of Newcastle fans are gearing up to make the pilgrimage down to London for the Carabao Cup final and, as well as the big game itself, many will be using the trip to get better acquainted with some bars and pubs in the capital.

It's now been five weeks since NUFC clinched their spot in this year's final, thanks to beating Arsenal 2-0 at home and away in the semi, with wild celebrations in St James' Park and across Newcastle city centre when the final whistle blew inside the stadium on February 5. Since then, having already put plans in place for somewhere to stay and how to get to London, United supporters had to play the waiting game to find out if they'd got their hands on one of the 32,000 allocated tickets for Sunday's game against league leaders Liverpool.

And now those that have and many others who are just going down for the atmosphere will descend on London for the weekend, with plenty of them getting the train down from the North East to arrive at Kings Cross. And, as well as a few places to grab a drink inside the station itself, there are a few boozers not far away from the station that they will definitely want to check out, including two that should feel like a home from home.

If you aren't staying on home turf to head to one of the fan zones in Newcastle for the game, here is a quick rundown of some of the best pubs to check out at Kings Cross either as soon as your set foot off the train, or before you head home. The best pubs next to Kings Cross station

The Dolphin

Just a short distance from Kings Cross off Euston Road, ChronicleLive podcast Everything Is Black & White took over The Dolphin for a live podcast event ahead of the 2023 final and you should hear plenty of Geordie anthems is you plan on calling in at any point this weekend, as well as getting to sample some Peruvian cuisine which has had the Nobby Solano seal of approval.

The Dolphin's online bio reads: 'We have been a local meeting point for over thirty years. In the last three decade’s we’ve seen the area transform, but we have managed to maintain our established, real pub character and charm.

'Theme pubs come and go, but the real McCoy just keeps on going. That does not mean we don’t keep up to date with what our customers want We are always looking for ways to make a visit to the Dolphin as enjoyable as possible!'

And, on Friday, The Dolphin got even better after changing its name for the cup final.

The Northumberland Arms

With a name like that, it would be rude not to call in for at least one drink right?! Just a short walk from Kings Cross, The Northumberland Arms describes itself as 'your local pub based in London' and will be open from 12 noon right through until 1am on Saturday and 11pm on Sunday, meaning it'll be a great shout to raise a glass or drown sorrows for anyone catching the train back to Newcastle after the final, particularly given that there will be 'dry trains' on the way back.

Millers

A place that many people call in at during a trip to London, whether it's for a football game or not. The Caledonian Road haunt has a 4 out of 5 star rating on Trip Advisor, with a recent satisfied customer writing: "Always stop in at Millers Bar when arriving at King's Cross for a pint, or two! Great pub, really decent prices (for London!)"

Equally impressed after their visit, a second took to the online review site to post: "Class atmosphere, everyone was so friendly, will be back, amazing place to watch the football! And it's fairly cheap for a pint."
