Alexander Isak of Newcastle United (14) during the Carabao Cup Semi Final First Leg

Arsenal's embarrassing Alexander Isak moment spotted as Shay Given gets transfer verdict spot on

As Newcastle United arrived at the Emirates on Tuesday, all eyes were on one man - and one man only. As Alexander Isak stepped off the team bus he was greeted by claps from Arsenal fans stood outside the players' entrance, as one cheeky home supporter shouted 'welcome home'.

In truth, you'd be excused for thinking Isak actually is an Arsenal player these days, such is the rather embarrassing lengths some of the Gunners' faithful have gone to while enjoying his recent run of form in recent weeks. With each extra goal added to his Newcastle tally of late, more and more wild fantasies of mammoth £150m bids have been dreamt up by those in the red half of North London.

Back in the North East, Newcastle are thinking of anything but selling their star man. After finding the net in eight consecutive games, Isak is the hottest property around and helping out a Premier League rival with such a world-leading talent is the last thing anyone inside St James' Park wants.

The player himself has repeatedly shot down any speculation over wanting a move away and with Newcastle now absolutely flying high and on the cusp of another Carabao Cup final, Isak's chances are staying are further strengthened.

Contract talks stalled in the summer but Eddie Howe, for one, remains calm over that scenario given the player's current deal has over three years to run. Couple that with the fact profit and sustainability rules [PSR] are still wreaking havoc with top flight clubs and their ability to spend, Newcastle staff certainly won't be losing sleep over a departure.

Sky Sports picked up on that particular Arsenal fan and his cheeky Isak shout before Tuesday's Carabao Cup encounter, before Shay Given summed it up perfectly when discussing Newcastle's future plan for Isak.

"He's been strongly linked with this stadium, hasn't he, and this football club but you know, Newcastle, I've said this before, have to build their team around him," he told the panel.

"He's a phenomenal player and I think in December alone, some of the goals he scored were brilliant because he's up for goal of the month. That's an unbelievable strike against Liverpool. He's just super sharp and he just gives you a bit of everything."

Isak was withdrawn midway through the second-half of the tie, with many thinking Howe was simply changing the shape of his side by throwing on an extra defender. Speaking after the game, the boss confirmed his star man had felt a slight hamstring issue before making way.
