Leeds United target Lois Openda playing for Belgium

Leeds United and AFC Bournemouth have Juventus’ Loïs Openda on their radar for the summer.

The Serie A side’s stance on the 26-year-old opens the door for Leeds United, Bournemouth and other clubs to sign him.

Last September, he joined the Italian club on loan with an obligation to buy if they finish in top 10.

Juve are now fourth, 21 points ahead of 10th placed Sassuolo, with five games to play this season. In short, the Turin club have to make the striker’s stay permanent.

The Belgium international hasn’t enjoyed regular minutes and managed just two goals from 34 matches.

His Serie A stats are as follows:

  • Appearances: 24
  • Starts: 6
  • Total minutes: 675
  • Minutes per game: 28
  • Goals: 1
  • Assists: 0
  • Expected Goals: 3.57
  • Expected Assists: 1.16
  • Big chances created: 1
  • Big chances missed: 5

Last week, Sport Witness covered claims from Italy that Leeds United are in the picture to sign him.

Bournemouth join Leeds United in transfer race

Calciomercato.it now back that up and cover the latest on Juventus’ plan for Loïs Openda.

Andoni Iraola’s side, the Whites and Stade Rennais are named as interested parties.

Since the end of February, the frontman has played five minutes from two matches in Serie A. As Luciano Spalletti has hardly utilised him, the Old Lady are looking to get rid of him in the next window.

Juventus are ready to listen to offers for the Belgium and one must keep an eye on Leeds United, Bournemouth and the Ligue 1 side.

These three clubs have already made contact with the Turin club, likely to find out the conditions needed to sign him.

Juve, for their part, are considering sanctioning a loan move with a purchase option. His exit will make room to bring in another attacker.

Contract, value and agent info

TuttoMercatoWeb recently stated Loïs Openda’s contract with Juventus will last until 2030 and Transfermarkt value him at €32m.

Belgian agency Stirr Associates, headed by agent Stijn Francis, are managing him.

A loan deal in the summer would allow Leeds United or AFC Bournemouth to avoid the risk of paying a big fee up front.
