‘Clear trend’ – Club expected to buy Aston Villa player for ‘reasonable price’

by · Sport Witness

On winter deadline day, Aston Villa allowed Kosta Nedeljković to join RB Leipzig on a loan deal with an option to buy.

Last month, we covered claims from Germany which stated the right-back took a pay cut to join the Bundesliga club.

Sky Deutschland journalist Philipp Hinze took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide Leipzig’s plan for the Aston Villa owned player.

Nedeljković played only 36 minutes from three matches since joining the German club last month. Despite his limited role, Leipzig manager Marco Rose stated they clearly believe in him for the long-term.

Hinze now claims the ‘clear trend’ is that Leipzig are expected to retain the 19-year-old beyond this season by exercising the €15m purchase option.

The €15m buying option includes €10.5m fixed fee and €4.5m as bonuses. The journalist further adds Leipzig view this as a ‘reasonable price’ for a player seen as a bet for the future.

At this point in time, Leipzig haven’t made the final decision, but Hinze claims the ‘trend is positive’. This indicates the Serbia international could leave the Villans on a permanent transfer in the summer.
