Crystal Palace in picture for ‘physically strong and fast’ player – Reasonable signing for Eagles
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessUS Lecce’s Jamil Siebert has emerged as Crystal Palace‘s new transfer target for the summer.
The centre-back’s performances for the Serie A side have seen Crystal Palace take notice.
He came through the ranks of Fortuna Düsseldorf’s youth system and made his way into the first team in 2020. The German spent the 2022/23 season on loan Viktoria Köln.
In August 2025, the second division German club sold him to the Serie A side, and the defender struggled initially. To put it in context, he made only two league appearances in the first half of last season.
However, the 24-year-old’s situation under Eusebio Di Francesco improved drastically in this calendar year. He has been a regular for Lecce since mid-January, and his displays have caught Crystal Palace’s attention.
His Serie A stats are as follows:
- Appearances: 15
- Starts: 12
- Total minutes: 1,167
- Minutes per game: 78
- Interceptions per game: 0.7
- Tackles per game: 1.3
- Ball recovered per game: 1.6
- Clearances per game: 6.3
- Duels won per game: 3.2
Crystal Palace looking at German
Oliver Glasner’s side have taken note of his recent performances and have included him in their target list for the summer.
That’s according to Sky Deutschland journalist Dennis Bayer, who took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report a short update.
He claims Crystal Palace have Jamil Siebert, who is ‘physically strong and fast’, on their radar.
The defender has no release clause in his contract, meaning the Eagles have to negotiate a fee with US Lecce, if they want to bring him to Selhurst Park.
Our take: Affordable for Crystal Palace
The German has a contract until 2028, with both parties having an option to extend it for another two years.
His value, as per Transfermarkt, €4.5m, and US Lecce could demand a fee slightly higher than that. German agency BeLoyal GmbH are representing the Crystal Palace target.
Taking Jamil Siebert’s contract, performances and market value into account, the fee to sign him would be affordable for the Premier League side.
Earlier this month, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain of Crystal Palace’s interest in Real Betis’ Natan de Souza. He’s valued at €40m by the La Liga side, and Siebert can be a cheaper alternative to the Brazilian.
