Sporting Club de Portugal are pushing ahead with plans to sign Luis Guilherme from West Ham United.

That’s according to Record. They report that there have been ‘important developments’ in Sporting’s pursuit of the West Ham youngster in the last few hours.

According to them, Guilherme has been on Sporting’s radar for some time. As a result, he was on a list recently presented to coach Rui Borges by the scouting departments.

Record understands that Borges was ‘pleased with the characteristics’ of the winger and has given the green light for the board, led by Frederico Varandas, to move from approaches to negotiations.

They are now set to push ahead to try and sign the Brazilian from West Ham in the January transfer window. Whether it’s a loan, loan with an obligation or option or a permanent transfer remains to be seen.

A Bola also report that Guilherme is on Sporting’s list. According to their information, though, he is not a priority target.

According to them, there are no negotiations between Sporting and West Ham at this moment in time. There has been an approach, through an intermediary, to discover what price West Ham would put on the 19-year-old.

The belief is that West Ham won’t sanction a permanent exit but would allow a loan deal. it is because of that Sporting will target other players first. It should be noted, though, that A Bola’s report came out three hours earlier than the one from Record.

There is every chance the situation has advanced, and Sporting have changed their mind on Guilherme thanks to Borges’ approval. It’s certainly a situation to keep a close eye on, with the Portuguese side seemingly ready to move.
