“I’m very happy” – Youngster content after January exit from Wolves

Thessaloniki, Greece – February 19, 2026: A Celta Vigo player Fer Lopez in action during the UEFA Europa League match against PAOK at Toumba Stadium.

Fer López says he’s enjoying himself back at Celta Vigo, after joining them on loan from Wolves in January.

On Thursday, the Spanish club secured a 1-0 win over PAOK in the Europa League play-off.

Prior to this clash, Movistar+ in Spain had a chat with the Wolves owned player and El Desmarque have relayed his comments.

The attacking midfielder graduated from the La Liga side’s youth system and made his first team debut in 2024. He made a handful of appearances for the senior team, but it was sufficient to convince the Premier League side.

Wolves signed him for around €25m in June 2025 and his sale helped Celta Vigo manage their finances.

The 21-year-old struggled in England, failing to score and contributing one assist in 364 minutes from 12 matches. This convinced him to leave Wolves and Celta Vigo came forward to sign him on loan.

Why he’s happier since transfer

Since returning to Spain, López has scored a goal in the 1-1 draw against FK Crvena Zvezda in the Europa League. The attacker explains he felt comfortable the minute he left Wolves for the Spanish club.

“I felt very comfortable from the first minute. It’s true that I’ve played a lot of minutes for the short time I’ve been here,” he said.

“I’m very happy, especially because in the first six months I didn’t get as many minutes and opportunities. The important thing is to win the game and keep adding minutes.”

When asked about the atmosphere within Celta Vigo’s dressing room, López explained: “We’re all friends, you can see it every day, on the field and in training. We all enjoy it. We want to win. That shows on the field; we’re a big family, we’re there for each other. I’m very happy to be here with all of them.”

What next for Wolves man

López has to return to England in the summer, after his temporary spell with the La Liga side.

Celta Vigo initially wanted to sign him on an 18-month loan deal, but Wolves only agreed for six months.

Earlier this month, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that Celta Vigo will do everything possible to extend the player’s loan stay beyond this season.
