Entourage working on Aston Villa exit as Villans stand firm – Probably played last game

Aston Villa are open to Leon Bailey’s loan at Roma being cancelled, so long as his agents find another new club for him.

That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, via Tuttomercatoweb. They report that Aston Villa have stood firm when it comes to the winger.

Bailey is currently on loan at AS Roma. He joined the Italian side in the summer after it was made clear he wasn’t a part of Unai Emery’s plans.

The loan has been something of a disaster, though. A series of injuries have meant that he’s failed to establish himself in Roma and is now not part of Gian Piero Gasperini’s plans either.

Bailey arrived with big hopes attached but has come nowhere near fulfilling them. There’s also been concerns about his lifestyle and whether that has had any impact on his ongoing fitness problems in Italy.

CdS also report that he will be a victim of Roma’s spending this month. They’ve brought in Donyell Malen and Robinio Vaz, further pushing Bailey down the pecking order. Even if he can get to and maintain peak fitness, it appears Roma have moved on from the loan player.

Aston Villa stance is firm

They want to cancel his loan deal, something Aston Villa have accepted. But they have reportedly made it clear Roma can only do so if another team will take him until the end of the season. The Villans seemingly don’t want him back at Villa Park.

The player’s entourage are now working on that. So is Roma’s director of football Frederic Massara. They’re currently focused on Serie A, but other solutions in Europe will be welcome as well.

The focus is on getting him out of Rome either way. The feeling is that Tuesday’s Coppa Italia round of 16 lost against Torino was Bailey’s last for the Italian club.
