Wolves accused of becoming ‘annoying’ in transfer talks – Price rises ‘on a whim’
by Sean Lunt · Sport WitnessWolves have been accused of becoming ‘annoying’ in their talks with Beşiktaş for Emmanuel Agbadou.
Murat Özen aims the criticism at the Premier League club today. He is a member of Beşiktaş Club Congress.
The Turkish side have been working on a deal for Agbadou for weeks. He’s seemingly keen to leave Wolves this month as Rob Edwards’ side reshape their squad.
He only moved to Molineux last January but does not appear to be a part of their long-term plans. A deal to take him to Beşiktaş has been progressing, with his agent even spotted in Istanbul for talks last week.
A report two days ago then reported that the defender had his bags packed ready to move. That was followed by a claim today that Agbadou was at Wolves’ training complex today. The assumption was that he was there for final talks before departing.
It seems, though, Wolves are not playing ball just yet. According to Özen they are ‘constantly raising’ their asking price for the defender ‘on a whim’. This is something he says is starting to get annoying.
According to him if this continues, it is highly likely that Beşiktaş will move on and look for an alternative signing. In a separate tweet, replying to someone saying the deal is done, he replies that Wolves want Beşiktaş to ‘increase the figure’. There’s no mention of the exact increases they want.
Journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, meanwhile, reports that Wolves and Beşiktaş are close to reaching an agreement for €16m plus €1m. According to him, the deal isn’t done yet but is really closer than it has been. Perhaps that’s come about thanks to Beşiktaş starting to air their grievances, like Özen has been doing.
