‘Calm, collected and level headed’ – Hype after Manchester United scouting mission

Liverpool and Manchester United are scouting Pierre Kalulu

Juventus’ Pierre Kalulu has attracted interest from Manchester United and attempts are ongoing to keep him in Turin.

In the 2025/26 campaign, the Frenchman has been one of the Old Lady’s best players. He has impressed particularly under Luciano Spalletti, alternating between centre-back and right-back.

He assisted in the 2-0 win over Bologna on Sunday, also scoring a vital goal against Lazio in February. He has found stability under the Italian manager, showcasing his wide variety of strengths in the backline.

Earlier this year, Sport Witness covered Manchester United’s interest in the versatile defender. Liverpool were also competing for his signature, with Kalulu’s sale depending on the money offered by suitors.

His Juve teammate Manuel Locatelli signed a new contract last week. Now, TuttoSport look at how the ex-AC Milan player’s future can evolve.

Kalulu praised for performances

The newspaper note that there is a serious possibility of Kalulu playing for France at the World Cup. He has put himself in contention by doing very well this season and could be in line to renew his contract soon.

Manchester United have sent scouts to Turin several times. They have paid special attention to Kalulu, with the report promoting him as someone who could be very useful to clubs in the Premier League.

Despite the Red Devils’ admiration, the Frenchman has remained ‘calm, collected and level headed’. They hype how he has carried himself with confidence, despite the pressure surrounding him.

That is why only a ‘high price’ will prompt Juve into a sale in the summer. In the meantime, the Bianconeri are making attempts to renew his contract until 2030 or 2031, with his current deal expiring in 2029.

Our take: Sale depends on Champions League qualification

In Serie A, a contract renewal has never been enough to rule out a player’s sale. Clubs constantly look for capital gains and Kalulu’s case can follow that pattern.

His sale will become very important for Juve if Spalletti’s side fail to qualify for the Champions League. They paid a package of €17m to sign him and this makes him a player whose exit can guarantee Juve a major capital gain.

The 25-year-old versatility will add value to many English clubs – including Manchester United. The Red Devils don’t specifically need defensive additions but if given an opportunity, Kalulu will be a very reliable option.
