Unai Emery ‘would snap up’ player for Aston Villa – Agent working on transfer offers

Unai Emery would be very keen on welcoming Douglas Luiz back to Aston Villa this month as he looks to leave Nottingham Forest.

That’s at least according to Tuttosport. They cover the midfielder today and the potential suitors for him.

The Brazilian is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest from Juventus. That deal includes a clause which will make it permanent if he plays a certain number of Premier League games.

That is not going to happen, though. The midfielder has barely featured under three managers at Nottingham Forest this season. That’s led Juventus to evaluate the situation and perhaps cancel the loan deal this month.

Tuttosport report that the midfielder has instructed his agent, Kia Joorabchian, to explore possible moves this month. He’s hard a work doing just that.

And according to the newspaper, his former mentor Unai Emery, ‘would snap him up at Aston Villa’ if he could. He needs a replacement for Boubacar Kamara, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season, at least, with a knee injury.

Luiz could be that man after previously starring under Emery at Villa Park. The Spaniard converted him from a deep lying number six to a more advanced central midfielder. That saw Luiz become a key creator with improved statistics.

And Emery would welcome him back if he could. At the moment, though, it is Chelsea who are leading the race. That will require his loan deal at Nottingham Forest being cancelled and a new agreement struck.

Until that’s done, it might be worth keeping a close eye on Aston Villa and a potential late bid to get their former midfielder back.
