Aston Villa willing to offer around €50m – Surprise claim on Villa transfer

Alejandro Balde

Aston Villa are one of the clubs of the contenders to sign Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde in the summer.

The Spanish media have been pushing the Premier League side as an option for the left-back.

Last month, Sport Witness relayed news of Aston Villa making initial contact for the Barcelona player.

On April 2nd, the Spanish press further backed up Unai Emery’s side interest in the 22-year-old.

Balde came up through the ranks of Barcelona’s famous academy, La Masia, and made his way into their first team in 2021. He’s been a regular in recent years and is now the first choice for Hansi Flick. Multiple injuries have limited his appearances this season.

His La Liga stats this season are as follows:

  • Appearances: 22
  • Total minutes: 1,583
  • Minutes per game: 72
  • Interceptions per game: 0.2
  • Tackles per game: 1.5
  • Possession won (final third): 0.4
  • Ball recovered per game: 3.6
  • Clearances per game: 1.0
  • Blocked shots per game: 0.4
  • Duels won per game: 3.8

Aston Villa’s plans for Barcelona defender

Wednesday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo again points out Unai Emery’s side making initial contact to sign Alejandro Balde.

Aston Villa, Manchester United and Manchester City all made approaches to ask about his contract situation.

The newspaper then relays El Chiringuito’s claim about the Villa Park club.

It’s claimed the Villans are willing to offer around €50m to Barcelona to secure the Spain international’s services in the summer.

Mundo say the 22-year-old’s profile and qualities would suit the Premier League. The newspaper or El Chiringuito make no mention of Barca and Balde’s stance on a potential summer transfer.

Why latest Aston Villa claim is surprising

Two days ago, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that Aston Villa sources deny any interest in Alejandro Balde.

Unai Emery has Lucas Digne and Ian Maatsen as the two left-backs at his disposal. With these two players, the Villans consider this position to be well covered and aren’t looking at signing another left-back.

Therefore, the latest claim of Aston Villa willing to offer €50m for the Barcelona player is certainly surprising.
