“I don’t know why” – Liverpool star flummoxed by Reds letting teams play against them
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessDominik Szoboszlai says he’s unsure why Liverpool have dropped points in recent weeks.
Liverpool got a point against Arsenal on Thursday after the tie at the Emirates ended in a goalless draw.
Prior to this clash, the 25-year-old spoke to Hungary’s Spíler TV and Blikk have relayed his comments. The Hungary international was talking about his year, both from a sporting and personal point of view.
With regards to Liverpool, he expressed his disappointment over their recent results.
The Reds started the season with five wins in a row and then went through a rough patch. The Premier League side secured only three wins from 12 matches between September and end of November. This includes Champions League wins over Eintracht Frankfurt and Real Madrid.
Slot’s position was then questioned while those in Germany pushed for Jürgen Klopp’s return to Anfield.
Liverpool unsure why the lapses are happening
Liverpool have bounced back and are currently unbeaten in their last 10 matches. They drew five of them against Leeds United [twice], Sunderland, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fulham and Arsenal. Szoboszlai was asked to give his take on Liverpool dropping points.
“We must not let these teams back into the games or not let them in at all. They must not feel that they have a chance against us. Unfortunately, we cannot bring this to the field at the moment, I do not know why,” he said.
Liverpool are fourth in the table, 14 points behind Arsenal. The Reds have a tough task to defend their title, but the Hungarian isn’t ready to give up.
“I will never give up, not even the championship, but we have to think realistically, as we are 14 points behind Arsenal,” Szoboszlai explained.
“However, we still have two competitions ahead of us in which we are in the game [the Champions League and the FA Cup], these are the ones we have to keep in mind now. If we look at it, last year PSG barely made it out of the regular season of the CL and they won it in the end, why can’t we be what they are now?”
