Newcastle United and Aston Villa officials travelling for transfer mission – ‘Absolutely’ no deal below €30m

Newcastle United and Aston Villa have Galatasaray’s Gabriel Sara on their radar for the summer. 

The midfielder spent two years at Norwich City before leaving them for the Turkish club in August 2024.

He’s been a regular for Galatasaray, and Newcastle United and Aston Villa could bring him back to England.

The Brazilian has played 87 matches so far, managing eight goals and 15 assists of which six goals and five assists are from 42 matches this season.

Back in January, Sport Witness covered claims from Turkey of Sunderland and Fulham as serious suitors. However, neither were successful in the winter market.

Sporx report two Premier League sides have emerged as Gabriel Sara’s new suitors from England.

Galatasaray face Gençlerbirliği in the Turkish Cup quoter-final on Wednesday and then host Fenerbahçe in the derby clash on Saturday. 

Both Eddie Howe’s side and the Villans will send their scouts to Rams Park to take a closer look at the South American against another Istanbul club on April 26th.

The Turkish champions, for their part, are prepared to sell the former Norwich City man in the next window. There’s a clear condition that Galatasaray will ‘absolutely not accept’ any offers below €30m.

For now, Newcastle United and Aston Villa will watch Sara later this month and decisions on next steps would depending on the information gathered by their officials.

The player’s stance on a potential transfer in the summer isn’t made clear in the report.

Contract, value and agent info

With a contract at until 2029, Transfermarkt value Gabriel Sara at €22m, at least €8m less than Galatasaray’s demand.

Brazilian agent Carlos Leite is representing the midfielder. His client list mostly has players from his country, including Wolverhampton Wanderers duo João Gomes and André.
