From Brazil: Big development – Manchester United rethink exit after midfielder’s resurgence

by · Sport Witness

Manchester United looked certain to part ways with Casemiro at the end of the season. However, the picture has shifted in recent weeks.

The midfielder has returned to a high level and started to influence big matches again. He has delivered decisive performances and brought stability back to the team.

That run has highlighted what he still offers. Casemiro provides leadership, organisation and control in midfield. He reads the game well and protects the defence. In addition, his experience helps younger players around him. As a result, his role has grown again inside the squad.

This improvement has not gone unnoticed. Only weeks ago, his departure felt almost certain. Now, Manchester United are reassessing that position. The Brazilian has reminded the club why he was signed in the first place.

Manchester United rethink exit as renewal talks emerge

According to reports from Brazilian outlet RTI Esporte, United have reopened internal discussions about Casemiro’s future.

The club now see him again as a useful and reliable option. That has created space for talks over a possible renewal, even though his current deal runs until June 2026.

Still, any agreement will depend on finances. Casemiro earns around £350,000 per week, one of the highest salaries in the squad.

Manchester United want to reduce that figure as part of a broader wage adjustment. Therefore, negotiations will not be straightforward.

Brazil plans frustrated as Casemiro rejects return

At the same time, interest from Brazil has not stopped. His former club São Paulo made contact one more time to explore a potential move after the 2026 World Cup.

This time, the club’s football coordinator – ex-Bayern Munich right-back Rafinha – reached out to Casemiro’s representatives to understand the conditions of a deal.

However, the response was clear. Casemiro does not plan to return to Brazil at this stage and signaled an opening to stay in England. His priority remains playing at a high level abroad. That stance has frustrated Brazilian hopes of bringing him back in the near future.

Other options remain open

Even with Manchester United back in the frame, other clubs continue to monitor the situation. The Brazilian report says Inter Miami have shown interest, while Al-Nassr represent a strong option from Saudi Arabia.

Those offers could prove financially attractive, especially in the Saudi market. Even so, Casemiro’s improved form and his family’s preference to stay in Europe may influence the outcome. Instability in the Middle East would also be a factor.

For Manchester United, the situation has clearly changed. What once looked like a certain exit has turned into an open decision. Much will now depend on whether both sides can find common ground in the months ahead.
