Manchester United have approached Burkina Faso youngster Mohamed Zongo after he impressed at the U17 World Cup.

That’s according to Africa Foot. They report that top clubs have their eyes on the ‘young prodigy’ and Manchester United are one of them.

According to their information, several clubs have approached the Tenakourou Academy about the player. They want to hold discussions about the youngster. Sources have confirmed to Africa Foot that Manchester United are interested.

They’re not the only ones who are keen. Manchester City, Villarreal and Anderlecht were also in talks with the Tenakourou Academy management as of Friday. For the moment, all options are being considered, and no agreement has been reached.

Manchester United took notice of the attacking midfielder at the U17 World Cup. He was a standout performer for Burkina Faso at that tournament, scoring two and assisting three.

He was named man of the match on several occasions, including in the round-of-16 win over Uganda. In the 1-0 win over defending champions Germany in the round of 32, he was the sole goalscorer.

Burkina Faso were later knocked out in the quarterfinals by Italy. But Zongo stood out in that game again, hitting the woodwork twice. And now he has big clubs in Europe asking about him, including Manchester United.
