Swansea City agree €3.5m+ deal – Hoping for total agreement in next few hours

Valencia’s André Almeida holds all the cards for Swansea City to complete his signing this summer. 

The Championship side have identified him as a target and have taken steps to secure his services.

Last week, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain of Swansea City tabling an official bid for the midfielder.

On Monday, we relayed news the Welsh club are close to agreeing terms with the La Liga side. However, the Portuguese player isn’t convinced of making a switch to Wales.

Encouraging developments for Swansea City 

Tribuna Deportiva, who dedicate their coverage to the Spanish club, cover the latest on Swansea City.

According to them, Vítor Matos’ side have offered €3.5m in fixed fee and can take the overall fee to €5-6m with bonuses and a sell-on clause.

Los Ches were asking for €5-6m for André Almeida, and now the two clubs have reached an agreement.

However, the 26-year-old still isn’t keen on joining the Welsh club and is considering other options, without a mention of the details.

Swansea City not giving up

André Almeida isn’t convinced about playing in the second division and despite this, Swansea City aren’t giving up just yet.

The discussions between the parties, likely with the player, remain open, and there’s an expectation his future could be resolved in the ‘coming hours’. From Swansea City’s point of view, this outcome would only be possible if they can convince the midfielder.

Valencia are keen on offloading the midfielder to raise funds, which they need to carry out new signings. This also allows them to get rid of his salary, and a rise he received after signing an improved contract [until 2029] in September.

Swansea City could use both Valencia’s stance and their firm desire, to convince Almeida.
