Nottingham Forest ‘could make another’ move after submitting bid – Player to evaluate offers
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessNottingham Forest could return for Celtic’s Arne Engels in the summer. Martin O’Neill’s side already stopped the Reds from taking him away from Celtic Park in the winter market.
Celtic signed the midfielder from FC Augsburg in August 2024, and he has been a regular so far.
To put it in context, he played 92 matches for Celtic, managing 15 goals and 20 assists and five goals and seven assists are from 40 matches this season.
His Scottish Premiership stats this season are as follows:
- Appearances: 25
- Starts: 17
- Total minutes: 1,560
- Minutes per game: 62
Back in January, Sport Witness covered claims from Germany of the 22-year-old as plan B for RB Leipzig in the last window. However, a move never took shape and he’s still with O’Neill’s side.
Nottingham Forest still keen on Celtic player
Journalist Lorenzo Lepore took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to cover the latest on the Premier League side and Lazio’s interest in Arne Engels.
He focuses on the Serie A side and reports on Nottingham Forest’s efforts in January and plans for the summer.
The Belgium international’s form for Celtic has caught the attention of the Biancocelesti, who looked at him for January.
Lazio have continued talks and the 22-year-old could be a concrete option if Fisayo Dele-Bashiru were to leave after this season. The Italian club value the Celtic man at around €15-20m.
Maurizio Sarri is in charge in Rome, and his long-term future needs to be clarified. Lazio are considering the former Chelsea manager to still be in charge and going ahead in their pursuit of Engels.
Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest submitted a €25m bid towards the end of last window and Celtic turned it down.
Vítor Pereira’s side are still in mix and ‘could make another move’ to take him away from Celtic Park.
The Belgian will carefully evaluate every offer, and his decision will depend on the sporting project and the manager in charge.
