From Portugal: All the bonuses in Viktor Gyökeres to Arsenal transfer revealed

by · Sport Witness

Viktor Gyökeres to Arsenal is now at the stage of logging into Flight Aware whilst pretending to work and seeing which private jets are departing Mallorca to arrive in London.

If you’re that way inclined, go for it… it’s Friday.

Sporting CP have finally given the striker permission to travel and have his medical with the Premier League club, which according to Record should start today and be concluded tomorrow.

That’s of course unless anything goes wrong, and whilst we wouldn’t want to tempt fate would it really shock anyone if there was a last minute delay? Anyway, ignore that and let us explain what Sic Noticias are reporting about the bonus payments.

Bonuses had been the final fee argument between Arsenal and Sporting, with the London club wanting a chunk to be relatively hard to achieve and Sporting wanting them all to be easily attainable and preferably mainly triggered within a couple of seasons.

The compromise reached is that the bonuses are certainly realistic but are spread over a longer period.

According to the good people at Sic Noticias, the bonuses work as follows: For every 20 games, with the Swedish striker only needing to be on the pitch for 45 minutes for a game to be counted, Sporting receives €1.25m, up to a limit of €5m.

In another variable, for every 20 goals and assists Gyökeres makes, the London club pays €500k, up to a limit of €1m.

Finally, for each qualification Arsenal makes to the regular phase of the Champions League, the Lions receive €1m, up to a limit of €4m.’

So, €5m based on 80 appearances, €1m for 40 goals and €4m for four years Champions League qualification.

That’s of course on top of the €63.5m fixed fee.
