Common agent link can help in Arsenal switch – Attention from scouts growing

Marco Palestra

Marco Palestra is increasingly getting a lot of attention in Italy and the idea of a move to Arsenal is gaining pace.

The full-back is arguably one of the best young defenders in Europe. He joined Cagliari on loan from Atalanta and the move has paid off. This led to him playing for the Italian national team last month and he took the opportunity with both hands.

Sport Witness have covered how Arsenal could be leading the race for the defender. Beyond the Gunners, there is also interest from other English sides.

Atalanta have historically been a difficult club to deal with. Now, indications are arriving from Italy about where Palestra’s future can lie.

Palestra’s agent holds key

Gazzetta dello Sport – relayed by JuventusNews24, note that Juventus are keeping a close eye on the youngster. Cagliari take on the Bianconeri at the weekend and this will be a good opportunity to watch the 21-year-old.

Juve’s move is likely to prove a lot of challenges. This is mainly because La Dea’s asking price is more suitable for English clubs.

Beyond that, Palestra is represented by Alessandro Lucci, who also handles Arsenal’s Riccardo Calafiori. He is an expert at dealing with clubs in the Premier League and this can be a big advantage for the Gunners.

Atalanta want €45m for a sale and this amount is much more viable for Mikel Arteta’s side than the Bianconeri. The Bergamo club are unlikely to accept initial loans either, as they are under no pressure to execute a sale.

Palestra’s versatility is rare

The Italy international has quite a rare profile. He is dual footed and can play on either side. He also thrives in playing as a wing-back, having grown physically this season.

This makes him a very useful fit for Premier League clubs. Arsenal can use him across the backline but also in attack, as Palestra can also be utilised as a winger who can either hug the touchline or cut inside.

The Gunners are no strangers to signing players from Italy now anyway. Calafiori’s presence can also help Palestra and help the youngster to settle in.
