Player on his way to West Ham, agreement reached – Travelling for Hammers medical
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessOn Monday, Il Messaggero reported Leeds United had emerged as a candidate to sign Lazio’s Taty Castellanos after West Ham United walked away.
A day later, we covered claims from Brazil which stated the Hammers are still keen on signing the 27-year-old. They also backed up Leeds United’s interest.
West Ham have managed to overcome Leeds United, Brentford and Flamengo in the race to sign the striker.
That’s according to TyC Sports, who report none of Leeds United, Brentford or Flamengo were willing to meet Lazio’s demands. The Hammers, on the other hand, reached an agreement with the Serie A side for a fee over €29m.
The Argentina international will join Nuno Espírito Santo’s side with the aim of regaining his place in the national team. This is echoed by Olé, who state the frontman will be a new West Ham player.
Although there was interest from Flamengo and several Premier League sides, West Ham made the decisive move yesterday to secure Castellanos’ services.
It’s claimed they have reached an agreement for around €29m. The player is set to sign a contract until 2030 with the London club.
West Ham are 18th in the table. Castellanos is of the belief playing in the Premier League will improve his World Cup chances.
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio also report West Ham and Lazio have reached an agreement for Castellanos. He claims the fee is €30m, which is €1m more than what’s reported in Argentina.
The operation is in the final stage as the two clubs are currently exchanging documents. Castellanos is expected to travel to England in the next few days to undergo medical tests with West Ham.
