Manchester United want to loan youngster to Nice – 18-year-old resisting exit
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessManchester United signed Diego León from Cerro Porteño in July 2025.
The left-back hasn’t made his first team debut yet. The 18-year-old has only been able to enjoy minutes with the Red Devils U21s, and has played 10 matches for them so far.
His situation at Manchester United didn’t prevent León from making his debut for Paraguay in October. There big hopes around the youngster, and his move to Old Trafford increased those.
On November 24th, journalist Uriel Iugt reported the Premier League side can send him out on loan in the winter market. Later that month, it was reported he could join OGC Nice. INEOS are owners of both the Old Trafford club and the Ligue 1 side.
On Christmas Day, León’s agent Renato Bittar insisted his client isn’t moving away from Manchester United this month. That hasn’t stopped the transfer links.
Versus in Paraguay now cover an update from journalist Christian Martin. According to him, the French club are back in the picture to sign the Manchester United player.
He claims Nice present the fullback a new opportunity to leave Michael Carrick’s side in this window. A move to the French club seems to be a ‘great chance’ for the Paraguayan to seek top division experience.
Manchester United favour a January loan
Both Manchester United and Nice have the same owners. Therefore, the journalist claims it would not be a problem for the two clubs to reach an agreement.
The Red Devils and Nice would have to convince the South American for the move to go through. According to Martin, León’s desire is to continue at Manchester United.
Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu are currently ahead of the Paraguayan for the left-back position at Manchester United. In addition to the duo, Diogo Dalot can also operate on the left side of the defence.
Therefore, a loan move to Nice or another club in January would be beneficial for León.
