Wolves enter picture to sign 21-year-old – Bargain midfield replacement for summer

by · Sport Witness

Wolverhampton Wanderers have added BK Häcken star Silas Andersen to their summer shortlist, and the 21-year-old could be sold despite signing a long-term contract extension through 2029.

Wolves step up interest

Aftonbladet report that several foreign clubs are monitoring Andersen. Wolves are among the most active.

Even as they battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League, Wolves have placed the Danish midfielder on their list of potential summer signings and are tracking him closely.

Andersen recently extended his deal with Häcken to 2029. That move was expected to secure his long-term future at the club. Instead, it has intensified speculation.

Häcken are open to a sale but will demand a record transfer fee to let their breakout midfielder leave this summer.

The 21-year-old is currently valued at €1m by Transfermarkt. Häcken’s record sale is Momodou Sonko’s €7.25m move to KAA Gent in January 2024.

Andersen’s rapid rise draws Premier League interest

Silas Andersen has quickly become one of the most-watched young midfielders in Scandinavia. His performances since arriving from Utrecht have accelerated interest across Europe. And Wolves are now firmly in the mix.

Rob Edwards’ side are likely to need a significant restructuring in their midfield this summer. The club expecting multiple departures in that department.

Joao Gomes has already been heavily linked with a departure, while André could also leave. Angel Gomes is also only currently on loan at Molineux.

Their recruitment team have often targeted younger, high-ceiling profiles like Joao Gomes. Andersen fits into that bracket.

His ability to anchor transitions and carry the ball through pressure, two areas where he has excelled in the Allsvenskan, won’t have gone unnoticed.

They may face competition, though. Celtic and Rangers have been following the youngster for a while, while Arsenal and Nottingham Forest have also been linked over the last year.

That, perhaps, indicates how well Andersen is doing. His future appears set to become one of the summer’s most-watched Nordic transfer stories and a sale is absolutely on the table, contract extension or not.
