Club working on signing West Ham man for two weeks – Manager sees transfer as crucial
by Sean Lunt · Sport WitnessSporting Club de Portugal have been working behind the scenes for at least two weeks to secure the signing of Luís Guilherme from West Ham United.
That’s according to Mais Futebol. They report that the Portuguese side had been aiming for a permanent transfer. Now they are focused on a loan with an obligation to buy, set at €15-20m.
They report that Guilherme is one of the ‘priority targets’ for the Portuguese side in the January transfer window. A report yesterday stated that there had been important developments in Sporting’s attempts to get the Brazilian.
That was then followed up by a claim that official talks had been opened with West Ham regarding the youngster.
Mais Futebol now say that the effort for Guilherme has been ongoing for at least the last two weeks. They say that manager Rui Borges sees the deal as crucial to his plans. Reports yesterday stated he had given his approval to the move, hence it pushing forwards.
This appears to back that up, reporting that Borges sees Guilherme’s arrival as crucial after losing Geovany Quenda to injury and Geny Catamo to the Africa Cup of Nations.
Work is now very much underway to get a loan deal over the line, although whether West Ham will sanction that remains to be seen.
