Bournemouth star ‘asking for more than double’ as clubs make enquiries
by Sean Lunt · Sport WitnessBournemouth defender Marcos Senesi is asking for ‘double what he earns’ from the Cherries from interested parties this summer.
That’s according to journalist Gianluca Vitale, who covers the Italian interest in the Argentine defender today.
He reports that Napoli have asked for information about the Bournemouth defender. The Italian champions, though, have limited themselves to contacts only and haven’t made any offers as yet.
Juventus advantage
Juventus are believed to have the advantage at this moment in time. They’ve been pushing for weeks to try and get the Bournemouth defender ahead of any competition.
The big block at this moment is Senesi’s demands. According to Vitale, he is asking for €3.5m to €4m a year and that ‘doesn’t help’ matter.
But there is an acceptance that he’ll ‘ask for double’ what he’s currently earning given he’ll be a free agent in the summer. That status gives him power in negotiations.
But there are plenty of sides vying for the defender. He’s particularly popular in Italy and Vitale is happy to confirm Napoli and Juventus are in the mix.
The 28-year-old, though, clearly wants to ensure he’s getting the best offer available before making his decision.
Premier League interest
Sport Witness have covered the developing battle for his signature for months. A report at the beginning of January stated Manchester United had made calls.
Everton, Chelsea and Crystal Palace then entered the mix, before Tottenham joined the race six days ago.
Juventus, meanwhile, have been determined to beat all of those clubs for a while. In fact, on the 12th of this month, Sport Witness covered a report stating that they were getting serious about their efforts.
They are seemingly concerned about the competition for Senesi’s signature. But there is also seemingly a concern about Senesi’s wage demands.
f Vitale’s information is anything to go by, they’ve certainly made the Italian sides think twice for the time being.
