Wolves offer expected – Thursday could be player’s farewell match

After having their first offer rejected, Wolverhampton Wanderers remain in talks for Jhon Arias, but the player continues to train normally at Fluminense.

According to Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte, the Colombian winger is keeping a professional stance while his agents try to push the move forward.

Wolves already have full agreement on personal terms with the 27-year-old. The final step now is reaching a deal with Fluminense, who turned down an initial €20m (£16.9m), but the Premier League side are expected to come back with a new bid soon.

Meanwhile, Arias is taking part in full training sessions as the Rio de Janeiro club prepare to their league fixture against Cruzeiro on Thursday night at the Maracanã.

The match could mark the player’s farewell, depending on how negotiations progress over the coming days.

Arias is the club’s standout performer in 2025, with 13 assists and four goals so far, and a fan favourite following the team’s tour in the United States.

In our latest follow-up, Fluminense have laid out new demands to move forward. They want a higher transfer fee and a larger share of the player’s economic rights, currently split 50/50 with Colombian side Patriotas.

That would require additional financial compensation. The Brazilian club also requested to keep Arias until August, a condition Wolves were not willing to accept.
