Stop-start Wolves transfer has another pause – No formal talks just yet
by Pedro Reinert · Sport WitnessWolves and Jhon Arias are once again in the Brazilian rumour mill. Another well-sourced update sent the conversation round. This time, the claim comes from one of the most respected journalists in the country.
Speaking on ESPN Brazil, André Hernan moved to cool expectations around any immediate deal involving Palmeiras and Wolves. He made it clear that, despite the noise, the situation remains at an early stage.
“It would be far too strong to say there is a negotiation today. What exists is interest,” he stated.
He then added an important explanation about Palmeiras’ usual approach. “When they [Palmeiras] send an offer, it is because there is already a negotiation model ready to be executed, ready to be closed. So Palmeiras will make the move, when they feel it is possible to close the deal,” he explained.
According to Hernan, Palmeiras have not made an offer for Arias and have not opened talks with Wolves. The Colombian remains on the radar, but the club are deliberately adopting a cautious stance while they assess conditions and timing.
That caution does not mean a lack of intention. The journalist claim Arias is now seen internally as the top of Palmeiras’ shortlist for reinforcements. The club have already made an initial enquiry and are now waiting for what they consider the right moment to act.
A new possible twist in Wolves situation
There is also a new variable in play. Palmeiras are actively monitoring Thiago Almada, who has been linked with a potential exit from Atlético de Madrid. According to Hernan, Palmeiras do not plan to pursue both players. The strategy is clear: it will be either Almada or Arias.
For Wolves, the latest update brings a familiar sense of pause. The interest from Brazil remains real, but the brakes are on for now.
Palmeiras are weighing their options, and Wolves remain central to a storyline that continues to roll on without reaching a final chapter.
