Confidence building Nottingham Forest player makes transfer u-turn – Pieces falling into place

Botafogo’s pursuit of Danilo continues, and a fresh update from Brazil brings an unexpected twist involving Palmeiras, his former club.

According to a report from Bola Vip, the São Paulo side have ruled themselves out of the race to re-sign the midfielder from Nottingham Forest, clearing a potential obstacle for John Textor.

As previously reported, Botafogo have been working to bring in Danilo this window. The 23-year-old came through Palmeiras’ academy and remains closely tied to the club emotionally, which has made a move to a direct domestic rival an uncomfortable prospect.

His entourage had initially dismissed the idea of joining Botafogo, instead preferring a move within European football – possibly to Lyon, another club under Textor’s umbrella.

Now, the story may be shifting. This new report claims Palmeiras president Leila Pereira has no plans to bid for Danilo – a decision which inadvertently strengthens Botafogo’s chances, by removing the club with the strongest emotional pull on the player from the scenario.

Negotiations between Botafogo and Nottingham Forest remain ongoing. Even though Danilo’s initial stance was to turn down a move back to Brazil, people involved in the talks reportedly still believe he could be persuaded – especially if the Lyon route is effectively packaged as part of a broader career plan.

Whether that shift will happen remains to be seen, but with Palmeiras now out of the picture, Botafogo are more confident in their pursuit.
