Crystal Palace want shock January exit – Glasner decides player is surplus

Crystal Palace signed Christantus Uche from Getafe on loan with a conditional obligation to buy on deadline day.

The striker has been limited to 67 minutes from seven matches and only eight minutes from three Premier League matches. He’s yet to score a goal or contribute an assist for the FA Cup winners.

Earlier this week, we covered claims from Spain that the Crystal Palace player remains an ‘almost impossible dream’ for Getafe for the winter market.

It’s no longer going to be an impossible dream if Friday’s edition of AS is to be believed. Their title says Crystal Palace ‘want to send Uche back’.

The Eagles have an obligation to make the 22-year-old’s stay permanent for €20m if he starts 10 matches.

He’s yet to start for the English club and isn’t part of Oliver Glasner’s plans. This seems believable considering that the manager has decided not to utilise him regularly so far.

In fact, the newspaper states Crystal Palace have decided not to activate the purchase clause. Instead, they want to return the Nigeria international to the La Liga side.

AS claim his return would please Getafe manager José Bordalás. However, the Spanish club are keen for him to continue at Crystal Palace as they will miss out on the €20m.
