Anxiety growing over Leeds United transfer – Whites dragging things out

Torino have been confident about signing Leeds United‘s Lucas Perri but delays are causing fears at the Italian club.

Sport Witness have covered that the two clubs have had an agreement over a transfer for many weeks. Il Toro are ready to close the move on the basis of an initial loan with an option to buy worth €10m.

The player has been keen on the deal, with Torino ready to offer him the first-choice role next season.

They have been simply waiting for Leeds United to sign James Trafford. Once that happens, the Whites would grant the Brazilian the transfer, with Torino desperate for the signing.

More is now emerging in Italy, as the Serie A side look to get things done as quickly as possible.

Fears growing in Turin

Today’s TuttoSport note that there are ‘risks around the corner’ in the deal with Leeds United.

Torino sporting director Gianluca Petrachi can’t wait to close the deal for the 28-year-old. He ideally wants everything done this week but that possibility is currently appearing remote.

The newspaper note that even if James Trafford heads to Elland Road, he is still on vacation. Daniel Farke’s side return to England later this week, which could also delay things.

As a result, anxiety about the timeline is growing in Turin. Petrachi is hoping the domino effect accelerates or Torino will have to wait for another week.

Our take: Patience needed

For now, there are no red flags around the deal. Alex Cairns is Leeds United’s temporary goalkeeper, which shows that Perri remains out of Farke’s project and he should leave.

Torino likely need to calm down somewhat. That said, a transfer is never done until it actually is so, and the Italian club are well aware of that.
