“There are exchanges” – Liam Rosenior confirms Chelsea talks, not adding to “speculation”

Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior has confirmed contact with Chelsea over replacing Enzo Maresca but only “because we are part of the same group”.

DNA cover comments from the Strasbourg manager today at his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Nice tomorrow.

Rosenior is currently the favourite to replace Enzo Maresca at Chelsea following the Italian’s surprise departure this week. He was quickly instilled as the favourite following that and is also the bookmaker’s favourite.

That is largely due to Strasbourg’s connection to Chelsea via BlueCo. The American group own both clubs, with youngsters from the Blues having regularly been sent on loan to the French side. The strong connection between the two clubs would make a move for Rosenior easy to get done.

Indeed, a report today stated that Rosenior had already talked to Strasbourg’s management today about the rumours. The transfer speculation is believed to be causing worry behind the scenes at the French club.

That meeting came before Rosenior’s press conference this afternoon. He was naturally questioned about the Chelsea speculation during that and confirmed he’d held talks with the Blues in some capacity.

“There are a lot of noises, a lot of speculation, but as a coach, if you’re interested, you fail. My job is here, I love this club,” he said.

“I didn’t tell the players about it. No need, they’re connected and I had a few little jokes. But we focused on our work. The goal is to continue to create beautiful things here.

“In life there is zero guarantee. We don’t know what tomorrow’s going to be. I’m doing my job. There has already been speculation. I don’t want to guarantee how long I’ll be here, but I enjoy it here every day.

“I’m planning to continue to do so while I’m here. I love this club, but I can’t guarantee anything. No one can do it.

“The reality today is that I am the manager of Strasbourg and I am focused on my position. There are exchanges because we are part of the same group.”
