Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner approached for surprise job – Shock move and ‘serious project’

by · Sport Witness

Last month, Oliver Glasner announced his decision to leave Crystal Palace when his contract expires in June. The coach said he made the decision after a meeting with Steve Parish during October’s international break.

In the first half of the season, he regularly spoke to Austrian and German media to discuss his future plans.

Glasner played a key role in helping Crystal Palace win the FA Cup last season, which is the first major success in the club’s history. He then helped the London club win the Community Shield in August 2025.

However, things haven’t gone well under the Austrian’s orders in recent weeks. On December 11th, the Eagles sealed a 3-0 win over Shelbourne FC in the Conference League.

Crystal Palace position under scrutiny

Since then, Crystal Palace have one win [against Brighton & Hove Albion at The Amex] in their last 15 matches in all competition. Two days ago, they settled for a 1-1 draw against Zrinjski Mostar in the Conference League.

This raised serious doubts over the Austrian’s immediate position at Selhurst Park. The latest claims from the UK have indicated the Premier League side have decided to retain him.

Crystal Palace’s recent performances haven’t stopped Glasner from attracting potential opportunities.

Surprise interest in Crystal Palace manager

Colombia have now emerged as an option for the former Eintracht Frankfurt boss. That’s according to AS in Colombia. Journalist Diego Rueda shares updates on Friday’s edition of VBar on AS Colombia and Caracol Radio.

Néstor Lorenzo has been in charge of La Tricolor since June 2022 and will lead them at the World Cup.

The national team are looking at the Crystal Palace coach post World Cup and have made an approach.

According to the Rueda, their directors “like him a lot” and have already approved him as an option internally. He adds Colombia see Glasner taking charge of a ‘serious project’ leading up to the 2030 World Cup.

He said: “The coach is Oliver Glasner from Crystal Palace. That name is very popular; he’s Austrian. It’s the name that several people on the Federation’s executive committee like. That name was suggested by three people. A study has been done on him. It’s a name that people like; he speaks four languages.

“This is for after the World Cup. If Colombia have a good World Cup, Lorenzo will still be the first option, but we really like Glasner’s name.”
