New club open talks with Liverpool over transfer – Reds stance make negotiations complicated

by · Sport Witness

AC Milan are holding new talks with Liverpool over a loan deal for Federico Chiesa, with the forward open to the switch.

That’s according to journalist Orazio Accomando, who reports that negotiations are unlikely to be simple as Liverpool are not open to a loan deal.

Chiesa is expected to leave Liverpool this summer after a miserable year at Anfield in which he barely featured under Arne Slot. He was the Dutchman’s only signing of the summer, arriving in a low-cost deal from Juventus.

A return to Italy has been mooted for some time with the likes of Napoli and Lazio both making contact with Liverpool over him.

Now AC Milan have entered the fray, beginning talks with Liverpool over the Italian and a potential loan deal. Chiesa, for his part, is open to the move but negotiations are unlikely to be simple as Liverpool don’t want to loan him out. They would, presumably, prefer to sell.

Milan’s interest is there, though, and they can now be added to the growing list of suitors for Chiesa this summer. Whether they can convince Liverpool to let him go on loan, remains to be seen.
