‘Surprise move’ for Celtic player after receiving green light
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessEarlier this week, Celtic manager Wilfried Nancy said Daizen Maeda is happy at Celtic Park. He also explained the 28-year-old is aware that the club would like to keep him.
“Yes, for sure, we’d like to keep him and he knows that. I hope that he’s going to stay. He’s really happy here. I knew that he had the opportunity to leave before but for the moment, he’s with us and he’s happy to be here,” Celtic’s YouTube channel quote him as saying.
Those words from Nancy haven’t stopped the exit links around the Celtic player. Taka Gazetesi, an outlet local to Trabzonspor, covers the club’s interest in the 28-year-old.
According to Taka, the Süper Lig side have the Japan international and Stade de Reims’ Keito Nakamura as targets for the winter market.
The report states Trabzonspor manager Fatih Tekke has given the green light to the club to make approaches for both players. The Turkish club have been following Celtic’s 28-year-old forward for a long time.
They have made a ‘surprise move’ to ask about the conditions needed to take him away from Nancy’s side.
Maeda’s contract lasts until 2027, and the report claims Trabzonspor will make an attempt to sign the Celtic attacker if the ‘financial terms are suitable’. There’s no mention of the fee they are willing to offer or Celtic’s potential demand.
The attacker has seven goals and six assists from 26 matches this season for the Scottish club.
