Manchester United player to be purchased via €30m clause – Decision has been made
by Sport Witness · Sport WitnessManchester United will not have a chance to take Marcus Rashford back in the summer, according to growing reports on Friday evening.
The 28-year-old moved to Barcelona on loan for the current season after falling out of favour with Ruben Amorim. He spent the second half of the 2024/25 season at Aston Villa and then returned.
Rashford was adament it was Barcelona he wanted to join, which at times brought widespread mockery. He continued training with Amorim’s Bomb Squad and eventually got the move he wanted.
At the time it was made clear in Catalonia that Hansi Flick was a fan. However, Rashford truly needed to prove himself. Even when he was going through his best patches of form, it was thought that any Barcelona stay would be via negotiation rather than using the agreed clause.
That clause stands at around €30m.
The Manchester United owned player has scored seven goals and added 11 assists in 26 matches this season.
Mundo Deportivo now report Barcelona ‘intend to exercise their purchase option’.
Manchester United career looks finally over
The Catalan newspaper go on to say: ‘While it’s true that the player’s performance has been somewhat inconsistent, the club’s sporting management considers him a proven talent and one of the top players in Hansi Flick‘s squad.’
Mundo Deportivo are very well connected to Barcelona. Should they be correct then Marcus Rashford has played his last game for Manchester United.
Whether Ruben Amorim’s departure has given Barca a nudge is unclear. By making it clear they’re going to use their clause, it should down any potential rumours in the coming months.
