LEVERKUSEN, GERMANY – 10 DECEMBER, 2025: Sandro Tonali – UEFA Champions League, match Bayer 04 Leverkusen vs Newcastle United at BayArena.

Arsenal are willing to make an offer to sign Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali in the summer.

The Italy international arrived at St James’ Park from AC Milan in July 2023 and missed majority of his debut season due to a suspension.

He played 104 matches for Newcastle United, managing 10 goals and 10 assists. Arsenal want to take him away from the Premier League side after this season.

The midfielder has three goals and seven assists from 3,520 minutes from 47 matches for Newcastle United this season and his Premier League stats per game from given below.

  • Big chances created: 5.9
  • Key passes: 0.9
  • Duels won: 3.1
  • Interceptions: 0.9
  • Tackles: 1.0
  • Clearances: 0.9
  • Ball recovery: 4.2
  • Possession won [final third]: 0.3

Towards the end of the winter market, there were claims of the Gunners wanting to bring him to the Emirates. At that time, Tonali’s agent Giuseppe Riso said Newcastle United won’t let him leave and dismisses claims of Arsenal contact.

Earlier this month, the agent insisted Arsenal and Manchester City’s interest could become concrete after the World Cup.

Gunners aim to make advances

Mikel Arteta’s side want to secure his services and Saturday’s edition of Il Giornale cover the latest.

The newspaper names Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City as his suitors, and there could be an auction after this season.

Pep Guardiola’s side intend to reunite with his compatriot, Gianluigi Donnarumma, at the Etihad. In addition to the Citizens, Manchester United and especially Arsenal are keen on securing his services.

In fact, the north London club are ‘ready to offer €70-80m’ to Newcastle United in the next window. Juventus have also keen, but the Premier League interest would make it complicated for them to sign him.

Journalist Niccolò Ceccarini, writing in his column for TuttoMercatoWeb, covers the Serie A side’s interest in Tonali.

He states: “In midfield, the big dream remains Tonali. Newcastle could open up about his transfer this summer, but only for a very high fee. Juventus intends to do everything possible to acquire him, especially considering the fact that the player would be very keen on the prospect. To finance such a costly move, the Bianconeri could put Koopmeiners on the market.”

Another Italian journalist, Carlo Pellegatti, backs Tonali to leave Newcastle United for another Premier League side in the summer and return to Milan in the future. MilanLive.it have relayed his comments.

“Tonali’s return in a few years will be exciting. Because Tonali is an old Rossoneri fan; if he’s not busy with Newcastle, he’s there when AC Milan are playing,” Pellegatti explained.

“Tonali, believe me, is coming back! Not right away. First, he’ll move to a big English club. Newcastle are currently asking €80m.”

Newcastle United’s decision could be key

The Italian has a contract until 2028 and Transfermarkt value him at €80m.

He is one of the Magpies’ stars, and whether they are willing to let him join Arsenal or another Premier League side is unclear.

Last summer, Alexander Isak forced a move from St. James’ Park to Liverpool. The deal only went through on deadline day for a British record fee. Newcastle United may make it complicated if Tonali were to push for a transfer to another English club.
