Manchester United wait in ‘ambush’ to sign Ligue 1 forward – Hovering for transfer
by Sport Witness · Sport WitnessManchester United are waiting in an ‘ambush’ position to potentially sign Mohamed Kader Meïté, reports FootMercato.
Firstly, who is Kader Meïté?
The 18-year-old has been with Rennes since 2022, coming through the French club’s second string and into the first XI. A right footed centre forward, the youngster has represented France at every level from U16 to U21.
Looking at his current season with Rennes, Meïté has had just over 600 minutes spread across 19 matches. From those opportunities, he’s got three goals and two assists. For the national side, he’s yet to find the back of the net in three U21s appearances.
Currently he’s represented by Clever One agency in France. They’re a relatively small operation and other agents are sniffing around, which could be why Manchester United interest has been thrown in.
Al-Hilal are presented as being keen, with Manchester United ready to ‘ambush’ the Saudi club. That ambush would be dependent on a forward leaving Old Trafford, presumably Joshua Zirkzee in this case.
There doesn’t appear to be an awful lot to the Manchester United claims. The chance they’re being used to pressure Al-Hilal and others, or simply hype the youngster, is certainly valid.
Lionel Messi, or more likely the Argentine’s sponsors, chose Mohamed Kader Meïté as a player to watch last year.
