Aston Villa have ‘already made moves’ for defender – Compared to Raphael Varane

by · Sport Witness

Aston Villa are closely monitoring the situation of Lens’ Samson Baidoo, who has done well for the French side this season.

The centre-back has played 19 times in Ligue 1, contributing two goals. The defender’s campaign has been impacted by a hamstring injury, but Baidoo hasn’t let that hold him back.

This is only his first season in France and the 22-year-old has already made a mark with his ability on the ball. While that is one his main strengths, Baidoo also boasts impressive athletic ability.

The defender is already attracting attention from clubs across Europe, with Aston Villa particularly keen.

Juventus also in the picture

TuttoSport report on the talent, promoting him as someone who has come up with ‘brilliant performances’ in this campaign. They also compare Samson Baidoo to Raphael Varane, who came through at Lens before joining Real Madrid and then Manchester United.

It is believed the centre-back has impressed many scouts this season, with Aston Villa having ‘already made moves’ for his signature.

There is also interest from Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund, who have also kept a close eye on Baidoo.

Besides them, it is Juventus who may have an advantage. This is because they have an excellent relationship with the player’s agent Meissa N’diaye.

He also represents Bianconeri players Jeremie Boga and Khephren Thuram, with the midfielder one of Juve’s best players this season.

Moreover, the Old Lady will anyway have to speak to N’diaye a fair bit in the summer. Boga will be signed permanently from Nice, with Thuram’s future uncertain. This can give Juve an opportunity to potentially negotiate for Baidoo as well.

His current deal at Lens anyway runs out in 2030, which will make 2027 a better time to execute a deal.
