Tottenham official takes on transfer hunt in Lisbon – On chase for ‘potential reinforcements’
by Sean Lunt · Sport WitnessTottenham had a scout in attendance this week to watch Sporting Club de Portugal’s 1-0 win over Porto.
That’s according to A Bola, who say Tottenham were one of several sides with a scout at the game alongside the likes of Manchester United.
All of the clubs were reportedly in attendance at the Taca da Liga (League Cup) semi-final to seek out ‘potential reinforcements’ and Tottenham were no different.
The newspaper makes no mention of who they were there to watch specifically as Viktor Gyökeres’ goal secured a 1-0 win for the home side. He was handed an 8/10 for the game, alongside Sporting teammates Geny Catamo, who provided the assist, and Ousmane Diomande. Porto’s highest rated player was Galeno, who scored a 7/10.
Diomande’s performance will surely have been picked up on by the Tottenham scout, with Ange Postecoglou in desperate need of defensive reinforcements this month. He’s not been linked before but that could easily change.
Someone who has been linked is midfielder Morten Hjulmand, with a report in the summer stating that Tottenham had a scout watching him playing for Denmark at Euro 2024.
That was followed by comments from former Brentford assistant manager Brian Riemer in October in which he stated Hjulmand was destined to play for Tottenham or one of the other big clubs in England.
On the Porto side of things, Tottenham were linked with Samu Omorodion in the past, but they have Dominic Solanke now so that seems unlikely despite his success in Portugal.
