€150m capital increase helps club sign Tottenham player – Pressure in recent hours

by · Sport Witness

Mathys Tel’s future at Tottenham Hotspur remains uncertain after Thomas Frank omitted him from the Champions League squad. Tel is unhappy with that, subsequently he’s keen on leaving the Premier League side in the winter market.

On Wednesday, Sky Deutschland reported Tel’s agent held a meeting with Spurs in London. The representative has asked Tottenham to sort out his client’s future in the next few days.

Earlier today, claims from Italy labelled Tel a disgruntled player. They also covered AS Roma’s interest in the 20-year-old, as he’s their main attacking target for the end of the January window.

Thursday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport now shares the latest on Roma’s efforts to sign an attacker.

According to the newspaper, Giallorossi owners The Friedkins have increased their capital in the club from €650m to €800m.

This €150m capital increase is a massive boost for the Serie A side to further improve Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad this month. Whilst it doesn’t give them €150m, as it’s more the overall Friedkin investment, it does improve finances.

Pressure building for Tottenham player

Gazzetta state: ‘Pressure has been mounting in recent hours, particularly for the Spurs winger: as is well known, the player has been requesting a loan move for weeks, still hoping to secure a World Cup spot.’

Corriere della Sera pick up on that and share more on their interest in the France U21 international.

The Italian capital club are studying the right profiles for Gasperini. According to the newspaper, Roma sporting director Frederic Massara is hoping to secure loan signings in this window.

The Tottenham player is the main target. His situation at the north London club have also attracted interest from other clubs.

Corriere della Sera state Roma aren’t worried about the competition. However, they are concerned that Spurs are against sanctioning a move.

The latest capital injection can allow Gasperini’s side to convince Tottenham to sanction a loan move.

This isn’t the end of this sage and there certainly will be more updates in the coming hours and days.
