Aston Villa player asks to terminate loan – Agent puts intermediaries at work

by · Sport Witness

Last week, Gazzetta dello Sport appeared confident that Leon Bailey will leave AS Roma and return to Aston Villa this month.

This was taken as fact, with the Jamaican still struggling with an injury. It is his third fitness problem since he arrived in the summer. The biggest positives during Bailey’s loan to Roma have been his big words on arrival in Italy and his agent’s hype as the attacker returned from his first injury.

The Italian club are edging closer to signing Giacomo Raspadori and for that, they wanted an attacker to depart. Bailey has failed to make a mark since his arrival and is seen as the key candidate to leave.

Calciomercato IT now report the 28-year-old himself wants to return to Aston Villa from Roma.

His father-agent is also keen on the exit and has asked intermediaries to find a new destination. The idea of him moving to Turkey has emerged but the winger doesn’t seem to fancy that.

There is a possibility that he ends up leaving Aston Villa on loan again, although the destination is yet to be found

Unneeded headache for Aston Villa

Before a new transfer, Roma will have to find an agreement to terminate the loan. That hasn’t happened yet, with the Italian side yet to pay the loan fee to Unai Emery’s side too.

Aston Villa won’t want to lose out financially. That stance will especially be the case given the past few months have seen Bailey’s value drop further. The loan was supposed to have the opposite impact, and there’ll be worry about what they can now get.

Bailey also failed to impress Gian Piero Gasperini, who had big hopes from the Jamaica international. Now, even the Roma manager is pushing for his departure.

All of this isn’t the scenario Aston Villa wanted when they agreed the deal, but it’s a situation they’ll need to deal with.
