Wonderkid opens up on pressure, idols and style – Newcastle, Arsenal and Chelsea in race
by Pedro Reinert · Sport WitnessNewcastle United’s move, Arsenal’s early contact and Chelsea’s interest have all helped build growing momentum around Palmeiras teenager Eduardo Conceição.
The buzz around the 16-year-old is increasing fast, with multiple Premier League clubs now tracking his development closely.
However, while interest continues to rise, the player himself remains focused on a much simpler objective: improving on the pitch and following a path already taken by players he admires.
Premier League interest builds around him
As previously reported, Newcastle United have already made an attempt to sign Eduardo. Meanwhile, Arsenal were among the first English clubs to make contact, and Chelsea is now also in the picture.
That interest comes alongside attention from across Europe. Clubs such as Barcelona have been linked, while Palmeiras continue to protect the player with a £86m (€100m) release clause and a long-term development plan.
Pressure, hype and staying grounded
In a recent interview with Spanish outlet AS, Eduardo Conceição gave a detailed insight into how he is handling the growing attention.
“The pressure is something natural for those who play for Palmeiras. We are used to dealing with it from a young age,” he explained.
Despite the headlines linking him with clubs across Europe, Eduardo insists he keeps his distance from the noise.
“I admit I do not usually read the news about me. My daily goal is to be in the best possible condition to show my value on the pitch. My agent knows that I do not even like to keep up with what happens outside football.”
He also highlighted the role of his family in keeping him grounded: “My family helps me a lot in that sense. They always remind me of the importance of keeping my feet on the ground.”
The youngster also made clear how much he values Palmeiras’ support in his development.
“I am very grateful to Palmeiras. Everything I am as a player comes from the work the club has done since I arrived. Knowing that I am valued for what I do on the pitch makes me very happy. It gives me extra motivation to keep improving every day.”
Influences, comparisons and development path
Eduardo Conceição pointed to familiar names when discussing his inspirations.
“Endrick and Estêvão are the biggest inspiration for all of us who are chasing our dream. I have followed their paths and I hope one day to do what they did for Palmeiras.”
His connection to that pathway is also personal. One of his agents is Douglas Souza, father of Endrick.
“It is important to have someone close who has lived the experience of guiding his son to success. I can always learn from him. I hope I can get to know Endrick better one day.”
Comparisons with other young stars are inevitable, and Eduardo acknowledges them without letting them define him.
“Everyone who is starting out has to get used to comparisons. It is incredible to be compared with successful players I admire, but my goal is to build my own path and show who Eduardo is.”
Style of play – in his own words
When asked to describe his game, Eduardo Conceição offered a clear breakdown of his strengths.
“I like one-on-one situations, dribbling and beating opponents with speed. I think my style is quite similar to Estêvão’s, although he is left-footed and I am right-footed.”
He also drew a comparison at international level: “Yamal is a player with a similar style to mine, always looking for individual plays.”
The Palmeiras youngster added more detail about his positioning and role on the pitch.
“I have played most of the time on the left, but I can also play more centrally. On the pitch, I want to dribble and help the team with goals, either scoring or assisting.”
Personality and short-term ambitions
Away from football, Eduardo Conceição describes himself in simple terms.
“I am a calm guy, I avoid trouble. I like spending time with my family. When I am not training or playing, I am usually at home.”
Looking ahead, his focus remains firmly on Palmeiras rather than any future move.
“In two years I will still be very young,” he said with a smile. “My dream is to have the opportunity to debut for Palmeiras’ first team and make a difference on the pitch, like others have done in recent seasons.”
With Newcastle already making a move, and Arsenal and Chelsea among those circling, that opportunity may soon come under even greater global attention.
