From Argentina: Manchester United in talks to sign Emiliano Martínez from Aston Villa
by Sport Witness · Sport WitnessEmiliano Martínez made what appeared to be a teary goodbye after his final home match for Aston Villa in the Premier League last season. It very much looked like the goalkeeper was saying farewell to a club’s support which has adored him and backed him consistently since he joined.
Aston Villa’s final league match came at Old Trafford, with Martínez getting sent off. That match saw the end of Aston Villa’s hopes of securing Champions League football for next season.
The Argentine media have repeatedly talked up Manchester United interest in the 32-year-old. There’s been an insistence of interest from the Red Devils, and it’s felt like it’s been pushed by the player’s camp.
TyC Sports, the biggest sports outlet in Argentina, now report Manchester United and Aston Villa are in talks for the player’s transfer.
There’s obviously insistence on this. Gastón Edul, perhaps the most prominent football journalist in Argentina, is pushing the story and it’s clear someone from the Argentina side of a potential move is giving this information to the media.
Whether the information is true or not remains to be seen.
