Chelsea accelerating efforts in recent hours for deadline signing – Strong push for rapid deal
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessChelsea have made moves to sign Stade Rennais’ Jérémy Jacquet in the winter market.
Last week, Ouest-France reported the Blues could make a big offer before the window closes later today.
Liverpool made concrete advances and found an agreement with Stade Rennais on Sunday. Jacquet will finish this season in France and move to Anfield in July.
Having missed out on Jacquet, Chelsea have shifted their focus to FC Nantes’ Tylel Tati. L’Equipe now covers the latest on the Club World Cup winners’ efforts to try and sign him on deadline day.
Liam Rosenior’s side have already made an ‘unwritten offer’ of €30m plus a percentage on a future sale on Sunday. The same newspaper reported this yesterday and also explained Chelsea were unlikely to succeed.
L’Equipe on Monday insist the Premier League side aren’t giving up just yet. It’s claimed Chelsea are ‘ramping up their efforts’ in the last few hours to secure the 18-year-old’s services. The Blues are still pushing strongly to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea’s plan is to complete this rapid operation quickly on deadline day and immediately send him on loan to RC Strasbourg.
Nantes initially signed him for their academy in 2023 and promoted him to the first team earlier this season. He made 19 appearances so far for the Ligue 1 side.
Chelsea have to convince Tati, to join them and then go out on loan to Strasbourg. He has no plans to rush and wants to weigh in all aspects before making the final decision. This is a concern for Rosenior’s side, who are running out of time.
L’Equipe state the ‘equation looks complex’ also because Nantes are yet to open the exit door. Therefore, Chelsea will have to be ‘convincing, and fast’ to succeed with in their strong push to sign Tati.
