Offer on table – Attempt to sign Manchester City player in quick pre-summer transfer
by Kaustubh Pandey · Sport WitnessEarlier this month, Sport Witness covered Calciomercato IT’s claims about Juventus’ interest in Manchester City star Bernardo Silva.
The Italian side had been in touch with the Portuguese’s entourage. There have been no signs of a renewal, with Bernardo’s contract expiring in the summer.
This was giving Juve hope of a free transfer, as they were expecting a decision in the next few weeks. The Old Lady were also preparing a two-year deal for the versatile midfielder.
Developments have taken place since then but it seems certain that the player will leave Manchester City.
Manchester City player listening to offers
La Stampa – relayed by IlBianconero, mention the Citizens’ star as a target for Juve.
They appear certain he will leave Manchester City but his next club is in the air. Despite the Italian giants’ interest, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain also sense the situation as an opportunity. Saudi Arabian clubs can also make major offers.
In the meantime, the 31-year-old is listening to the approaches that his agent Jorge Mendes receives. Juve have put an offer of their own on the table in an attempt to beat the competition early on.
Luciano Spalletti’s side are yet to receive a response but remain in the chase. The Portugal international is seen as a bit of dream, with his free agent status appealing to them.
Bernardo will leave as a club legend
Sometimes, it is easy to forget that the ex-Monaco player is still only 31 and has many years of football left in him.
Despite that, he has accomplished pretty much everything at Manchester City. He’s played 442 times for Pep Guardiola, in a variety of positions. This season, he’sreverted to being a right winger in times of need, which says a lot about his availability.
Winning silverware again this season would go a long way in paying tribute to Bernardo, who deserves so much credit for his service.
