“I want to play for Liverpool” – Bayern Munich’s top target wants Reds
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessLiverpool and Bayern Munich are among several top clubs in the mix to sign RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande.
Two months ago, SportBild reported Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea are all keen on the 19-year-old.
Last week, Africa Foot reported Manchester United have tabled a €90m bid to sign him, while stated Arne Slot’s side and Tottenham Hotspur are also keen. Those claims appeared far-fetched, to say the least, but there’s clearly widespread interest in the player.
Monday’s edition of Bild reports Bayern Munich dream of signing the Ivory Coast international.
The Bundesliga winners have to be cautious as other clubs are also keen. This includes Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain. The newspaper makes no mention of Tottenham, Chelsea or Manchester City.
Liverpool can beat Bayern Munich to transfer again
Liverpool have a clear advantage if they make advances to try and sign the youngster.
Speaking on a TikTok live steam, Diomande was asked about his dream club. He didn’t hesitate to reveal his admiration towards the Merseyside club.
“I want to play for Liverpool. I’m a huge Liverpool fan. My dad dreams of seeing me play at Anfield!” Bild quote him as saying.
That’s a bold confession from the Leipzig star, and gives a clear route to the deal for Arne Slot. The timing matters as he’s already been linked with a move to Liverpool.
Diomande has impressed for the German club this season, scoring seven goals and contributing four assists from 16 matches. His performances helped him make his debut for Ivory Coast at AFCON.
The attacker is returning to RB Leipzig after Egypt eliminated Ivory Coast from the tournament. His contract expires in 2030, and interested parties would have to spend big to take him away from the Bundesliga side.
For Bayern Munich it could line up another transfer defeat to Liverpool. Ahead of last summer the German club had spent months pursuing Florian Wirtz, only for the player to choose a move to Anfield.
