From Portugal: Arsenal agree to meet Sporting terms for Viktor Gyökeres

by · Sport Witness

On Sunday morning, we covered the latest drama from Portugal regarding Viktor Gyökeres and a move to Arsenal. The striker didn’t turn up for preseason training on Friday and therefore missed his club’s training trip to the Algarve.

That prompted Sporting president Federico Varandas to go public and slam those representing the player, saying they were making the transfer process even more difficult than it would have otherwise been.

Arsenal had been willing to offer €65m plus €15m in bonus payments, with Sporting holding out for €70m plus €10m.

It would appear Arsenal have now agreed to Sporting’s transfer terms. Record report Arsenal are now ready to pay €70m plus €10m in bonuses and therefore the transfer can progress, with the player in Sweden and desperately waiting for the move to be given approval.

Record report this is according to their own information, and state it’s Arsenal agreeing to what Sporting wanted. This looks like vindication for Varandas and Sporting sticking to their guns.
