“It’s tough” – Arsenal injury causing concern – Needs to get healthy quickly

Arsenal face Manchester City in the crucial Premier League clash at the Etihad on Sunday.

The Gunners are leading the table, six points ahead of second placed Manchester City, who have a game in hand.

In his pre-match press conference, Mikel Arteta said Arsenal’s Martin Ødegaard is doubtful for tomorrow’s trip to Manchester City.

The Norway international has struggled with injuries this season, forcing him to miss 120 days and 23 matches until March.

He featured in Arsenal’s FA Cup defeat to Southampton and in their Champions League win over Sporting. However, the 27-year-old picked up a new injury against the Lions and hasn’t featured since then.

Last Thursday, Norway manager Ståle Solbakken confirmed the Gunners midfielder has suffered a “small setback.”

Manchester City star concern about Arsenal player

Ahead of the weekend clash at the Etihad, Norway’s Viaplay spoke to Erling Haaland and Nettavisen have relayed his comments.

The Manchester City striker has concerns of Arsenal star Martin Ødegaard’s injury woes this season.

Haaland plays alongside the midfielder for Norway and hopes he can be in top shape for the World Cup. The setbacks saw the former Real Madrid man miss last three international breaks with the national team.

“There have been a few injuries. It’s a shame, especially after we got off to such a great start with the national team last fall,” he said.

“It’s tough, since we know how good he is. He needs to get healthy as soon as possible; that’s what he’s working on. We need him for the World Cup, so we have to get him back on track.

“You don’t want anyone to get injured, no matter who it is. You wouldn’t wish that on anyone. When you see Hugo Ekitiké tear his Achilles tendon, it’s terrible to watch. It’s a shame, but it’s part of football.”

Haaland was asked whether he is ‘surprised’ that Manchester City are still in the title race, considering the good start Arsenal had earlier in the season.

“Yes, I actually am. I thought it would be over now, to be honest. But suddenly it has become an opportunity. At this level it’s about taking the chances you get,” Haaland explained.

3 points against crucial for Manchester City

Manchester City are six points behind Arsenal, with a game in hand.

If Pep Guardiola’s side were to beat the Gunners and win the game in the hand, they will be level on points with the Emirates club.

Therefore, it’s vital for the Citizens to collect three points against Mikel Arteta’s side on Sunday.
