Want salary covering – Why Galatasaray are taking legal action after Liverpool match
by Sean Lunt · Sport WitnessGalatasaray are preparing legal action against UEFA after Noa Lang suffered a gruesome thumb injury against Liverpool.
Turkish outlet NTV Spor reports that the club has filed an official complaint and is preparing a compensation lawsuit against UEFA.
How Noa Lang was injured
Noa Lang, who came on as a second‑half substitute, was forced off after suffering a deep cut to his right thumb.
The injury occurred when he collided with the advertising boards, leaving him in immediate pain. Medical staff rushed to his aid, administered oxygen, and stretchered him off the pitch.
Galatasaray later confirmed that Lang will undergo surgery in Liverpool, with the club’s medical team present.
Club files immediate complaint
The incident has triggered an immediate legal response from the club. Galatasaray secretary Eray Yazgan has now revealed that they are wasting no time in escalating the issue.
“After the match, we filed a complaint with UEFA representatives,” he said.
“They have conducted their investigation. UEFA will evaluate the issue. We are consulting with lawyers. We will file a compensation lawsuit against UEFA and we will request compensation for our losses regarding his salary.”
UEFA officials investigate Anfield incident
UEFA officials have already conducted an initial assessment following the injury and will now evaluate the case.
Turkish outlet Fotomaç shared images showing UEFA and Liverpool officials inspecting the area where the injury occurred.
What this means for Galatasaray and UEFA
With surgery imminent and legal action underway, Galatasaray’s stance is clear; the Turkish club want responsibility and compensation paid.
Attention now turns to UEFA as the governing body reviews the case. Galatasaray’s public stance will, perhaps, push a decision to be made sooner rather than later.
The injury, as well as the one to Victor Osimhen, capped off a poor evening at Anfield which brought a sudden halt to their Champions League run this season.
